Many traditional infrastructure protection solutions technically require at least /24 networks. As a result, SMBs and organizations with smaller networks often go without professional DDoS protection.

Local protection mechanisms hit the physical limits of the internet connection when attack volumes are very high. Without additional cloud scaling, the risk of outages and service interruptions increases.

Responding to attacks manually takes time, ties up skilled staff, and is operationally unfeasible for many organizations. SMBs in particular need automated protection mechanisms that don't require personnel effort.

NIS-2, DORA, GDPR, and industry-specific requirements are increasing pressure on operators of digital infrastructures. Without certified, sovereign security solutions, compliance quickly becomes a risk.

The hybrid protection architecture closes a critical market gap by making it possible — for the first time — to efficiently secure even smaller subnets and single IPs. This makes enterprise-grade DDoS protection accessible to significantly more customer segments.

At medium load levels, defense takes place locally in your own network. For attacks that exceed local capacity, the system automatically extends to Myra's cloud scrubbing, with more than 50 Tbps of mitigation capacity.

The solution monitors traffic flows in real time and automatically triggers countermeasures when defined thresholds are reached. This reduces response times, minimizes outages, and substantially lowers operational overhead.

As a legally GDPR-compliant, highly certified provider with development and operations in Germany, Myra is a strong partner for meeting regulatory requirements arising from NIS-2, DORA, CRA, or the GDPR.

How Hybrid DDoS Protection Works
On-Prem Real-Time Protection with Cloud Escalation: Hybrid scrubbing combines local on-prem appliances directly in your data center with a high-performance cloud reserve. In normal operation, the active on-prem unit analyzes and filters traffic on site, allowing even small network blocks (< /24) to be efficiently protected.
As soon as a volumetric attack exceeds local capacity, the system escalates automatically and seamlessly to Myra's cloud-based infrastructure protection, with more than 50 Tbps of mitigation capacity — keeping the infrastructure of affected companies fully reachable even under massive DDoS fire.

"The hybrid solution we built with Myra closes a critical market gap. For the first time, we can protect SMBs and large enterprises alike in a legally compliant, GDPR-conformant, and NIS-2-ready way — and that has sustainably strengthened our competitive position."
Stefan Kondmann, Head of Public Sales at 1&1 Versatel

On-prem DDoS protection operates directly within your own network and offers a high level of control as well as fast local mitigation. Cloud scrubbing extends defense beyond uplink limits; the hybrid variant combines both models for a flexible response based on attack intensity.
