The challenge

Growing DDoS threat meets inadequate protection

DDoS attacks are the biggest IT security risk for 49% of companies. However, many SMEs and smaller organizations do not have access to effective protection solutions, as these require large networks. This security gap must be closed urgently.

The solution

Myra Network DDoS Protection (on-prem & cloud)

In order to provide unprotected SMEs and regulated industries with access to professional DDoS protection, 1&1 Versatel entered into a partnership with Myra at the end of 2021. The aim was to meet three core requirements: market access for unprotected SMEs, compliance security for regulated industries, and scalable infrastructure protection for networks of all sizes. The solution is based on the integration of Myra's highly certified on-premises infrastructure protection into 1&1 Versatel's data centers, supplemented by Myra Network DDoS Protection (cloud). This hybrid protection architecture offers flexible, scalable defense that wards off attacks either locally or in the cloud, depending on their strength.

The implementation

Effective defense through hybrid protection architecture

Following the signing of the partnership agreement in February 2022, the protection solution was integrated directly into the 1&1 Versatel network. Defense takes place in real time by continuously monitoring incoming traffic flows. If an attack exceeds a threshold defined by AI, mitigation is initiated automatically. Depending on the severity of the attack, the solution uses either OnPrem protection or Network DDoS Protection (cloud). In addition, attacks can still be mitigated manually, offering greater flexibility and control.
